One designer, one house, avenue Hoche.

L'Atelier Hoche, a bespoke tailoring house in Paris 8th

L'Atelier Hoche by CYR bears my initials. Since 2005 I have designed the wardrobes of men and women who leave nothing to chance; since 2015 my door has been at 14 bis avenue Hoche, between the Arc de Triomphe and Parc Monceau, and I receive you there in French or in English. One designer, one house, and you.

Who is Christian Y. Rousset?

It began with a coincidence. Back from San Diego after six years, a degree in international economics in my pocket, in 2005 I joined the world's leading travelling tailor, working alongside Italian, English and French tailors and drapers. There I learned to read a cloth as others read a map: what a flannel says about a man, what a lapel reveals of a personality. The craft became mine.

From 2006 to 2011 I headed its sales in France. I built my clientele, sharpened my eye, and came to understand that a successful suit depends as much on trust as on cloth. In 2011 I set up on my own; in 2015 I opened L'Atelier Hoche, where I design, style and advise on image. From those years I have kept a way of working at the crossroads of four cultures: American efficiency, English rigour, Italian ease and French finesse.

  • His clothflannel from October to March; fresco with the first warm days.
  • His detailworking buttonholes on the sleeve, which only a close look reveals.

One person, from the first measurement to the final fitting

On avenue Hoche, I am the one who receives you, from our first meeting to the handover. I observe you, take your measurements, compose with you and approve every fitting, pin in hand. I know your measurements, your habits and your wardrobe: each new piece begins with what the last one taught me.

Your private salon online extends this relationship; it does not replace it. It opens once your fitting has been approved, for your next pieces: your avatar then wears your actual pattern, and every composition you imagine there comes straight to me.

A house of bespoke tailoring, styling and image consulting

L'Atelier Hoche is a house of bespoke tailoring, styling and image consulting, creating every piece of the wardrobe for men and for women: the bespoke suit for men, bespoke tailoring for women, the shirt, the jacket, the trousers, the coat, the tuxedo, down to the pieces for the weekend.

Here a silhouette is built, and the wardrobe that goes with it. Leaders find image consulting shaped around their diary; grooms-to-be, a wedding suit prepared with them.

Twenty years in the service of the silhouette

More than twenty years in the trade is, above all, a way of looking. Before taking a single measurement, I observe your posture, the set of your shoulders, the way you sit and walk. One shoulder a little lower, one arm a little longer: that is the difference between your size and your measure.

It is also a matter of memory. Your pattern is created in your name from more than thirty measurements, then kept and refined with every piece. Each new order builds on the precision of the measurements before it.

05 · The House

Bespoke, full bespoke, the Milanese buttonhole

Bespoke is our standard: for each client, a unique pattern is drawn from all their measurements, and every piece starts from it. At the summit sits the house's full bespoke: the Sartoriale collection, crafted in Italy and fitted in Paris, with 80% of the work done by hand and an intermediate fitting to confirm every line.

Between the two, a shared signature. On every suit, whatever the collection, the lapel carries a Milanese buttonhole: a raised silk cord, worked tight stitch after tight stitch, that draws a clean, slightly domed teardrop.

L'Atelier Hoche on screen: “Sexygénaires”

The film “Sexygénaires”, starring Thierry Lhermitte and Patrick Timsit, was shot at the atelier. The salon on avenue Hoche becomes the setting for a makeover: one of the characters is transformed, under the eye of the house. An excerpt from the scene accompanies this page.

What I believe

Conversation first

A garment begins with a conversation: what you do, the occasions ahead of you, what you already own, the colours that are truly yours. We keep to the essential: the piece your wardrobe lacks, rather than one that repeats it.

The designer, and you

You speak to the same person from the first meeting to the handover. I impose nothing: I guide, I suggest, I refine. I know your measurements, your habits and your pieces.

Precision over effect

A fitted cut, comfort preserved, natural cloths that last. No piece resembles another, because no client resembles another. The house Journal tells the rest; what follows is written with you: book a private consultation.

Your next piece begins with a look.In our salons on avenue Hoche or by video call, Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm.
